Dare is a game between real people. The rules below keep it enjoyable for everyone, in the app and outside it.
Last updated: 29 September 2026
Dare dares you to step a little outside your comfort zone, but the game only works if everyone feels safe. The rules apply to everything you do on Dare: your profile, photos, selfies, questions, answers and messages, the photos and voice messages in conversations, and the games. They also apply to how you treat the people you meet on Dare, including when you see each other in real life.
Anyone who does not follow them may get a warning, lose access to some features or lose their account, for good. These rules form part of the Dare Terms and Conditions.
1. Adults only
Dare is only for people who are at least 18 years old. Do not pretend to be older or younger than you are, and do not try to contact minors. If you realise you are talking to someone who seems to be under 18, stop the conversation and report them.
Your profile photos must show you. Photos of children have no place on Dare, not even photos of you as a child.
2. Be yourself
On Dare, people get to know each other as they are now. That is why:
- Your profile photos show you, are recent, and at least one of them shows your face. No one else's photos, no celebrities, no pictures taken from the internet, no filters that make you unrecognisable.
- Dare selfies are taken on the spot, with the front camera and your face in the frame. Do not photograph another photo or a screen, and do not try to trick the camera.
- One account per person. Do not pretend to be someone else, and do not lie about your name, age or gender.
- Your account is yours. Do not lend it, sell it or use it on behalf of a business.
3. Good questions, honest answers
The question in your Dare is the first thing the other person learns about you. Make it count: curious, playful, even bold, but not vulgar and not offensive. Sexually explicit questions and requests for intimate photos or personal details are not allowed. Truth answers are written by you, honestly; do not copy text from somewhere else.
4. Respect and consent
- A “no”, an “Angel me”, an unanswered dare or an ended conversation are all answers. Do not insist, and do not try to reach that person in other ways.
- Do not pressure anyone to send photos, to give you their number, address or accounts on other social networks, or to meet you.
- Daredevil is a game that both of you start and either of you can leave at any time. Do not use the game to force anyone to send selfies, and do not tell them off if they leave.
- Do not send sexually suggestive messages or photos to anyone who has not clearly shown they agree. Agreeing to one thing does not mean agreeing to everything.
- On dates, consent matters just as much. It can be withdrawn at any time.
5. Nudity and sexual content
Explicit nudity and sexually explicit content are not allowed anywhere on Dare: not in profiles, not in dares, not in conversations, not even with the lock or the flame. Swimwear photos, and bare-chested photos of men, are fine. Every photo is checked automatically before it reaches anyone, and anything that fails the check is deleted.
6. Harassment, hate and violence
- No harassment, intimidation, stalking, threats or insults, in the app or outside it.
- No hate speech and no discrimination based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or age. You can have preferences; you cannot look down on people.
- No violent or shocking content, no glorifying violence and no encouraging self-harm or suicide. If someone seems to be in danger, call 112.
7. Scams, money and advertising
- Do not ask for money, gifts, loans, prepaid card codes or “investments”, including in cryptocurrency, however real the need may seem.
- Dare is not a place for selling, advertising, fundraising or promoting other apps, websites, accounts or events.
- No spam, no chain messages and no offers of paid sexual services.
8. Illegal activities and child exploitation
Do not use Dare for anything illegal: drugs, weapons, banned goods, human trafficking, fraud. We have zero tolerance for any form of child sexual abuse or exploitation, and we report it to the authorities; see Child Safety.
9. Other people's privacy
- Do not make anyone else's details public (full name, address, phone number, workplace) without their consent.
- Do not share screenshots of conversations or photos you have received, especially those sent with the lock or the flame. What was sent to you is for you.
- Do not record or photograph anyone without their knowledge, either in the app or on dates.
- Never share intimate images of anyone without their consent. Besides us closing your account, it is an offence punishable by law.
10. Misusing the app
- No false reports, and no reports made to get back at someone.
- If we have closed your account, do not create another one.
- No bots, automated programs, modified apps or attempts to get around the limits, the photo checks and the other safety measures.
- Do not collect, copy or sell data about other users.
11. How to report
- In the chat: the three-dot menu at the top right → Report. Choose the reason (inappropriate photos, language, harassment, fake profile, someone who seems to be a minor, scam, something that happened on a date, or something else) and, if you like, write what happened.
- When you report someone, you also block them: they no longer see you and you no longer see them, and the conversation disappears for both of you.
- By e-mail: for anything else, or if you no longer have the app, write to us at uppdare@gmail.com. Anyone can notify us of illegal content, even without an account.
- In case of danger: call 112 first.
The person you report will not find out from us who reported them.
12. What we do
We read reports and decide based on what we have seen, taking into account how serious it is and whether it has happened before. We can:
- delete or hide what was sent;
- give a warning;
- limit some features;
- suspend the account or close it, for good.
An account reported by several people may be put on hold automatically until we review it. We may also take into account what happened outside the app, for example on a date. When there is real danger or a criminal offence, we inform the authorities. When we restrict your account, we tell you why.
13. If you think we got it wrong
If we have rejected one of your photos, deleted something of yours or put your account on hold and you think we got it wrong, write to us within 6 months at uppdare@gmail.com. A person on our team will take another look and reply to you.
