Child Safety
Dare Dating's standards against child sexual abuse and exploitation.
Last updated: 29 September 2026
What these terms mean
- Child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE): any content or behaviour that sexually exploits, abuses or endangers a child.
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM): images, videos or texts that show or describe the sexual abuse of a child, including drawings, animations and computer-generated images.
- Grooming: an adult trying to gain a child's trust in order to abuse them.
- Sextortion: threatening someone with the publication of intimate images in order to obtain money, more images or favours.
What we prohibit
- any content that sexualises children, whether real or invented, including drawn or computer-generated content;
- child sexual abuse material, in any form, even if it is sent “to draw attention to it”;
- attempts to contact, lure or manipulate children, on Dare or outside it;
- sextortion and human trafficking;
- photos of children in profiles, including photos of you as a child.
How we prevent it
- When creating an account, everyone enters their date of birth and confirms that they are at least 18 years old. The date of birth cannot be changed afterwards in the app.
- Every photo, whether in a profile, a dare or a conversation, is checked automatically before it reaches anyone else. Photos with explicit nudity are rejected.
- Dares start with a selfie taken on the spot, with a face in the frame, which makes it harder to use someone else's photos.
- Reports about people who seem to be minors are given priority, and their accounts are closed.
Warning signs to watch for
Stop the conversation and report them if someone on Dare:
- seems to be under 18, from the way they write or from their photos;
- talks about children in a sexual way or asks you for such images;
- suggests meeting up together with a child, or offers you access to a child;
- threatens to make intimate images public.
How to report
- In the app: in the chat, the three-dot menu → Report, choosing the reason that says the person seems to be a minor, or whichever reason fits.
- By e-mail, even if you do not have an account: uppdare@gmail.com, with the subject “Child Safety”.
- Directly to specialists: the esc_ABUZ reporting line run by Save the Children Romania, a member of the international INHOPE network, or the INHOPE hotline in your country (www.inhope.org).
- If a child is in immediate danger: call 112.
If you are a parent
If you find out that a child is using Dare, write to us at uppdare@gmail.com with the name on the profile and, if you know it, the phone number used. We will close the account and delete their data.
What we do when we find out
We delete the content, close the account and stop them from coming back, preserve the evidence for as long as the law requires, and report it to the competent authorities in Romania and to the esc_ABUZ line. When the law requires it, or when a person in the United States is involved, we also report to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
For authorities
We receive requests from authorities about child safety at uppdare@gmail.com and handle them as a priority.
Compliance with the law
We comply with child protection laws in Romania and the European Union, and we cooperate with the authorities.
